' EBC issues statement of public apology to PHL Embassy in Singapore

EAGLE BROADCASTING CORPORATION (EBC) would like to apologize to the Philippine Embassy in Singapore for its TV news item aired over NET 25 in the 12 noon Agila Balita program on April 3, 2020, as reported by Ms. Meanne Corvera, one of our news reporters.

Upon our inquiry on the matter, we acknowledge that our reporter was not able to interview the Philippine Consul General to Singapore, Hon. Adrian Bernie Candolada, and she based her report from other sources.

We thank the Consul General and the Philippine Embassy in Singapore for calling our attention to this matter.

EBC has not and will not tolerate irresponsible reporting as we abide by the ethics and basic tenets of journalism.

Thus we are issuing this public apology in our online news sites, radio and TV programs. Our reporter will also be given disciplinary action. We will also run an Erratum article to correct the TV news item.

We will be reaching out to the Philippine Embassy in Singapore to air their official statement.

Again, we reiterate our apology to the Philippine Embassy in Singapore.

We will continue to work with the Embassy by opening our media assets in providing verified news and information not only for OFWs in the Singapore but to Filipinos around the world.

EBC will continue to maintain its relevant, balanced and verified reporting not only on COVID-19 but also on other news and information in these interesting times.

Thank you.
